As I have said earlier Dr. Jaya always makes us think, think and think. Things that he discusses sometimes looks mild but actually they carry a lot of weight. Marriage is not something that I’m into now but he forced us to think about that by giving us that as our title for our portion paper. “ I was praying hard that day in my heart that he will not cal my name to ask my opinion on arrange marriage” Marriage is something big and serious and not to be taken light. That day the lecture was full of laughter. Arranged marriage really became a hot topic for all of us. The Indians were highlighted in this matter because it is still practiced among them.
Many of my friends in my class were against arranged marriage because they were already in a relationship but there were a few who are still holding on this. I personally would go for arrange marriage because I fell our parents know the best. For instance, I personally would be glad if my mother chooses the “ MR. Right” for me. That is because she has been all the while with me and she knows me in and out and I will feel blessed because “ he” was my mother’s choice. Moreover, I have stong faith on her and she is lucky for me. I feel our parents have brought us up well and at this important time of our life we sometimes become selfish in standing for our choice and not giving them a chance to even say a word.
I’m not against love marriage but in this days too many love marriages are going into drains. I must be a little harsh because love alone does not make the marriage strong but trust, blessings from the elders and the understanding of the meaning of marriage carries more weight. I love to quate Cil Pa here, “ Marriage is not about I love you and you love me and oops we made monkeys. We have enough monkeys around and I don’t want my Teslions to produce monkeys !” what she says is 100% correct.
So, start thinking now itself, and when its time for your marriage you have made your mind and you know what you are doin.!!!!!!!!!!!!Good luck
